FAQ

How does the iFetch Too work?

The iFetch Too is charged via a rechargeable battery that lasts up to about 300 throws before needing to be re-charged. With four difference distance settings, 10, 25, or 40 feet or random, it’s totally flexible for your pet & your available space.

Once powered up, your dog drops the ball into the top of the unit and the ball is launched with power for your dog to fetch the ball & return to the unit.

What’s included in your iFetch Too?

Each iFetch Too comes with 3 standard-sized tennis balls. You can, of course, use normal tennis balls or nearly any ball that is 2.5 inches in diameter. The Planet Dog Glow Ball is our favorite alternative option. This ball works great when slobbery or wet, and launches nearly as far as a tennis ball when dry. The medium-sized Chuck-It balls are also a great option. However, the medium Chuck-It ball will not launch as far because it is slightly smaller and heavier than a regular tennis ball. Keep in mind that the launch distance might be affected when using an alternative ball.

The iFetch Too comes with a rechargeable battery and charging cable, so this means it’s fully mobile to be taken outside the home to parks, beaches etc.

Why do we love iFetch Too?

Bigger Dogs. Bigger Balls. Simply more fun! iFetch Too is a serious toy, for seriously fetch-crazy dogs!

Which iFetch product is best for my dog?

This depends on each individual dog. Of our automatic ball launchers, we say that the iFetch Original is for small to medium breeds and the iFetch Too is for medium to large breeds, however we have seen large dogs use the iFetch and small dogs use the iFetch Too.

In order to figure out which size is best for your dog, we recommend you purchase a ball that is 1.5″ diameter and a standard size tennis ball (~2.5″ diameter) and test each one with your dog. If your dog prefers the 1.5″ diameter ball, then the iFetch will work fine. If your dog prefers the 2.5″ ball, then the iFetch Too is a better option.

Another thing to consider is the launch distance. If you intend to play with the product outdoors and launch it as far as possible, the iFetch Too is probably the best option due to its launch distance of 13 meters. It also has a rechargeable battery, unlike the iFetch, which has to either be plugged in or runs on 6 C batteries.

When deciding between the iFetch and iFetch Frenzy, consider a few factors.

Distance – If you are working with a small space, the iFetch Frenzy is a great option because the ball only rolls 6-12 feet each time. The iFetch, however, has a 9-metre setting that works well indoors. If you are looking for a further distance, the iFetch also has settings for 3 metre and 6-metre launch distances.

  1. Budget – The iFetch Frenzy is $89.95 and the iFetch is $199.95 whereas the iFetch Too is $399.95
  2. Power – The iFetch Frenzy is non-electronic and makes no noise. The iFetch requires 6 C batteries or a power cord plugged into the wall to power it on.
  3. Surface – The iFetch Frenzy must be used on a flat surface (indoors or outdoors). The iFetch can be used on almost any surface (indoors or outdoors).

If you are still having trouble deciding and have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at info@goifetch.com.au and we will be happy to help you decide which product is best for you and your dog.

Are the iFetch products safe for dogs?

When introducing your dog to the iFetch or iFetch Too, we recommend that you teach him or her to stay behind the product (or to the side of it) as the product prepares to launch. At its highest launch setting (9 meters feet for the iFetch, 13 meters for the iFetch Too), the product can toss the ball at speeds which could injure your dog, especially if they are standing directly in front of the product. While most dogs learn very quickly where to stand to avoid getting hit by the ball, adult human supervision is recommended until your dog is fully trained.

To learn more helpful fetch training tips for your dog, please visit our training tips page. The iFetch Frenzy is non-electronic and does not launch balls, so you don’t have to worry about your dog getting injured from the product itself. Please be cautious when letting medium to large dogs play with the miniature iFetch tennis balls (1.5″ diameter or 40mm). Supervise to ensure your dog does not choke or swallow the balls.

How do you clean the iFetch products?

With the unit powered off feed a damp cloth down into the tube and out the front launch area. Pulling the cloth back and forth (similar to flossing your teeth) will take care of one level of dirt. As a bonus (and to get a better clean on the wheels) firmly hold the cloth from the ball hopper end and then carefully turn on the unit and press in the ball trigger to cause the wheels to spin about the cloth. Worst case, the cloth might tear or it might get jerked out of your hand and launched, but it shouldn’t damage the unit.

How easy is it to train a dog to use the iFetch products?

If your dog already loves to play fetch, it should be pretty easy. Some customers have told us it took them less than 20 minutes (and a handful of treats) to teach their dogs how to use the iFetch, iFetch Frenzy, or iFetch Too. To make things even easier, we have put together some training tips and a short training video.

Where are the iFetch products made?

The iFetch products were designed, prototyped and commercialized in the US, and are now assembled in China.

What happens if I put other things into any of the iFetch products (e.g. coins, golf balls, etc)?

While that does sound like a fun experiment, we don’t recommend you put anything into the iFetch, iFetch Frenzy or iFetch Too other than tennis balls as that is not the intended use of the iFetch, iFetch Frenzy, or iFetch Too.

How are the iFetch and iFetch Too powered?

The iFetch is powered by being plugged into the wall using the included wall plug, or can be portable by using 6 C batteries. The iFetch Too has an internal rechargeable battery that charges in 12-16 hours.

How do I get started with the iFetch or iFetch Too?

To get started with the iFetch, all you need to do is plug it in (or insert 6 c-cell batteries), press the button on the back to select a distance setting (3, 6 or 9 meters), drop a ball in, and it’s playtime!

To get started with the iFetch Too, you will need to charge the rechargeable internal battery before getting started. Plug the iFetch Too into the wall using the charger that comes with it. The light on the charger will turn green when it is charged and ready to go (can take anywhere from 12-18 hours to fully charge). The iFetch Too is portable once it is charged, can be unplugged and moved wherever you like. Press the power button on the back, select a distance setting (adjusting the safety switch so the red is visible in order to launch further than 9 meters) and select 3, 9 or 13 meters, or a random setting, which will randomly select a launch distance each time the ball is dropped in. Enjoy playtime!

How far do the iFetch and iFetch Too throw the ball?

The iFetch has three launch distance settings. 10 feet, 20 feet, or 30 feet. To set the launch distance, all you have to do is press the button on the back to cycle through the settings. The light will turn off after 30 seconds, but the iFetch will remain on (in standby mode) until you drop another ball into the funnel.

The iFetch Too has three launch distance settings, 10 feet, 25 feet, or 40 feet, and a fourth option for a random launch distance setting. To set the launch distance, all you have to do is press the button the back to cycle through the settings (switching the safety switch to red if you want to launch further than 10 feet). The light will turn off after 30 seconds, but the iFetch Too will remain on (in standby mode) until you drop another ball in the funnel.

My dog slobbers a lot. Is that a problem?

Some dogs slobber more than others. If your dog is a heavy slobberer, you may need to wipe off the balls from time to time. When using the iFetch Too, be sure to set it on one of the higher launch distance settings if your dog tends to slobber.
